Catalogue number #2591 | Fluorite with Pyrrhotite |
Yindu Ag-Pb-Zn deposit, Hexigten Banner, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, China Price £325 | Stunning specimen comprising mostly fluorite with two generations of growth: well formed, lustrous cubes with a deep cranberry colour in the centre are partially overgrown by a thin layer of purple fluorite with stepped growth giving a frosted appearance. Between the two generations there is a whitish layer that gives a striking contrast. The colours and textures are highly unusual and striking. There are minor sulphides attached which have a platey sheared form and appear to be mostly pyrrhotite. Note that the first photo is both front and back lit, the last photo is backlit only and the other three are front lit only. |
